About SorrelPath

Last updated: May 2026

SorrelPath is a reference archive focused on edible wild plants, foraging routes, and plant identification across Italy's forests and mountain landscapes. The content covers the northeastern regions — Friuli-Venezia Giulia and the Veneto Alps — as well as the central Apennine corridor from Emilia-Romagna south through Tuscany and Umbria.

The archive is maintained by a small team based in Udine, drawing on field notes, local botanical records, and published ethnobotanical research from Italian universities and regional nature authorities. It is not a commercial resource. No guided tours, courses, or products are sold here.

What This Archive Covers

The focus is on three intersecting areas:

Sources and Accuracy

Content is drawn from peer-reviewed botanical literature, regional forestry publications, and documented ethnobotanical studies. Key reference works include publications from the University of Udine's Department of Agriculture, the Italian Botanical Society (Società Botanica Italiana), and the National Research Council's plant biodiversity unit.

Where facts are uncertain or regionally variable, this is noted explicitly in the text. The site does not publish foraging advice that has not been cross-referenced with at least two independent sources.

Disclaimer

The information on SorrelPath is provided strictly for reference. Wild plant and mushroom identification carries real risk. Misidentification can cause serious illness or death. Before consuming any wild plant or mushroom, consult a qualified botanist, mycologist, or licensed foraging guide. SorrelPath accepts no liability for harm arising from use of content on this site.
